The task:

PLB were appointed to support WHSmith with the development and launch of their WHS Travel and Tech Express stores.

Our journey:

From brief and design, through production and installation, we work closely with WHSmith and their partner brands to progress the development of their standalone digital Tech Express stores. The focus is always to deliver a compliant, innovative store display in line with the latest developed digital offering. From an award winning High Street store in Reading, a cutting-edge display in Euston and a glamourous new store in London’s Broadgate development – these are just a few of the stores that we have brought to life for WHSmith.

What we’re proud of:

We continue to create a visually impactful, high-end look and feel travel store of the future to compete with other premium brands and retailers in the market. The projects are delivered exceptionally, ensuring the stores are opened on time for trading and fully compliant. This in spite of tight timeframes and continual updates to brand offerings and display look and feel throughout the process.

We are also extremely proud that the display in WHSmith Tech Express Reading won the 2018 POPAI Bronze Award in Short Run – Permanent Display category!

This has influenced both the look and product mix we want to achieve in Digital stores going forwards. For these larger stores achieving the environment and department feel of Digital in Reading, as a concept store, is essential for our future plans.
For smaller stores the successes we have seen in heroing Apple and Audio products with oversized and informative POS have influenced our range with these stores now showing up to a 50% uplift on Tech products.
